Indianapolis

Buttoning up my last trip to Indy...been here a dozen times in the past two years, now the project I'm supporting is winding down. Been a blast to be back here each time especially when the Speedway was on the visiting agenda. The fun this week was watching all the frantic preparation for the Super Bowl. Scales of economy: Cheapest game ticket is 3 grand, the fee for the room I'm in at the Downtown Marriott is going for 9 hundred a night as early as four days out from game day. The NY Giants are in the game so that means I won't be wasting my time watching...besides there's hockey to be seen. Au Revoir, Indy...what a send off too, it's starting to snow! Too bad the George family screwed it up with Bernie Eccelstone, I'd be back in a flash if F-1 was still on the schedule here.

Admission of Guilt!

OKAY! Prematurely slammed United Airlines this morning for not 'covering' my 1K status from LAX to ORD... Never expecting the gratuitous upgrade, I do expect at the very least an Economy-Plus seat with the extra legroom...not today! But...I showed the flight attendant my boarding pass with 1K emblazoned; I ate and drank on the house due to her diligence in acknowledging a loyal frequent flyer. Pissed off my immediate neighbors with the smoothly flowing Jack Daniels and Coke, then the turkey sandwich (from up front) on a tray with silverware and linen napkins. Pardon the expletive, but: Fuckin'-A Bubba! Middle seat in the back row next to the 'shitter' (I hear cousin Eddie from Chevy Chase's Vacation now: Hi Clark, shitter's full!). Passing premature judgement is a fault I possess...I was humbled this afternoon and begged forgivness. Now I wait for my connection in Chicago for Indianapolis...

Road Work

No, not on my bicycle logging exercise miles but another adventure with my pals at United Airlines on my way to Indianapolis. The inflammation in my right knee and hip ruined a days worth of cycling this past week...it sucks getting older. The weather played its part too with wild swings in baro pressure. This makes today's rides harder to cope as I get to be folded up lawn chair style in a flying cigar tube 757 followed by the EMB-170. Todays RANT: Does 1K Status on United provide any privilege today? No. If I knew I was cattle-car class I could have been gratuitously abused on American Airlines (who are broke and extra-cranky) and arrive at my destination three hours earlier. Today I fly to Chicago with an extra dose of my Tramadol from seat 40B. In the end what matters is arriving safely and uneventful...as the UAL ad department says: "It's Time To Fly"

It's a New Year

Hey Sports Fans, it's a new year but somehow it's more of the same from the previous year... A few notable changes to share:

1. Flickr, no longer on the Flickr stream as it was packed with time challenges and lately too much bullshit with other Flickr-ites that have forgotten or never knew that the environment was for sharing and developing talents. Had the environment been better modulated I mave have fought harder to stay engaged. However, Flickr did do me some good... I received plenty of exposure that progressed toward publishing and I made some very close friends that I hope will still follow me as I transition into something else with my image sharing online.

2. Facebook, what can be said about FB... It's a time warp. Adios, Au Revoir, Sayonara, AMF.

Driven to spend more quality time with my family when I'm not on the road for work is a priority and a goal. What I'm loathe to supress is this view from the United Club (old Red Carpet Club) from LAX while I wait for the winged box-car to take me to other places. What I need is a new job.

As time permits I'll be able to find a host for images where I can use the URL to share images here...especially if it helps my Rant-of-the-Day. So for now on this Sunday morning I wait for my ride to the east coast, check my email, read some more of my book...
